How do I get Free Night of Theater tickets?

Tickets become available on October 1st at 10:00am. Click here to go to the "Find a Show" page. There you will be able to select a show, fill out the form and print your confirmation. In addition to being your ticket voucher, the confirmation page contains special offers from local businesses supporting Free Night NYC.

Before October 1st you can view the shows and companies, in order to explore all the options and decide what you would like to see.

Where do I pick up my tickets?

Print your confirmation page and bring it to the theatre’s box office one half hour before the show time.

What if the show I want to see is sold out?

Try a different show. Try a theatre you have never been to before. Explore a new genre.

What if all the shows are sold out?

Sign up for Free Night NYC updates to be notified when the theatres release more tickets.

What if I have a ticket but cannot make it to the show?

Give the ticket to a friend or contact the theatre, as soon as you know that you are unable to use the ticket.

How do I find my theatre?

Click MAP IT on the show page and a Google map will show you the location of the theatre you have selected.

Is there parking near my theatre? What are the restaurants near my theatre? Are there other events that night at my theatre? Is there a dress code?

Every show and theatre is different. Check out your theatre website for details or contact the theatre directly.

Are there shows for Freenight in languages other than English?

Yes. The following shows are presented in foreign languages:

Yes but every theatre is different.

Is Free Night happening in cities other than New York? What is the history of the Free Night of Theater program?

Free Night of Theater 2008 is taking place in over 120 cities, and includes over 600 theatre companies all across the country.
